He feels that he finds himself when he paints and what is more beautiful than to find ourselves? He left Iraq because he was forced to. It was not safe for him because of being an artist. He would rather have stayed but everything was against him and he feared for his life. Omar says, “When I paint, I feel that I live another world and I can fly.” Omar currently lives in exile in Damascus, Syria waiting for his visa to Canada.
