Using a single, muted color palette, Trung paints the grass, hills, trees, and sky, using shading and highlighting to differentiate. He also depicts the parent and child within a ray of light as they walk into the distance.
Artist: Duong Kha Trung
Kha Trung was born in Vietman, on the island of Phu Quoc in 1978. From an early age, art was his passion, and at age 14 he began to take lessons. He pursued his studies at the Ho Chi Minh University of Fine Arts, graduating in 2000. He opened his own gallery in 2005 in Ho Chi Minh City, which he successfully runs today with his wife, who is also an artist. Trung is inspired by small moments of nostalgia and happiness which he witnesses among the less afluent in Vietnam. He often walks around the city and the rural areas, in search of tranquility from the noise and traffic of the city.
