Drawing since childhood, Khalid has participated in many group exhibitions in Damascus, Syria and Baghdad, Iraq. He chose to paint because he feels most happy when he is painting and feels he was born to be painter. Many things make him happy but most of all is living in peace and having success and love. These are the most important. Khalid left Iraq because the situation there was so bad and he was so afraid of being killed. He had nowhere else to go Khalid states that when he paints, he feels happy, no longer worried. Khalid has recently been resettled in Washington, D.C. after having lived in exile in Damascus for 7 years.
