According to an old legend, the first time the townspeople of La Merced saw a Western-style train for the first time, they pointed and said, “Look, it's flying!” With his usual creativity and color, Cesar portrays this innocent moment in the imagination of Quito's townspeople as they welcome the train and the exciting future that it represents. This piece reflects Cesar’s study with the late Gonzalo Endara Crow, one of Ecuador’s most distinguished artists.
